26 January 2009

With an odd shear profile (similar directional shear to that often seen in the USA), the storm I intercepted had a nice base on the south eastern flank. It was being fed by cool, moist air from the south east so wasn't overly strong but was interesting nonetheless.

After going through the core of the storm from west to east, I was greeted by this shapely updraft base on the SE'ern flank.

Looking to the west as the storm moves off to the north west. There weren't many roads and although it looked ok, it wasn't going to do anything really special so I let it go.
